Very popular in the Mediterranean South of France, it is used to season everything from soups to grilled chicken. This traditional version uses lavender. Although purists will argue against the exclusion of the herb, one absolutely can omit it from this recipe and still have a delicious and authentic Provencal herb blend. Bon appetit! Poutine is a messy, rich version of gravy fries in Canada. It's a very versatile recipe that has many local and thematic variations - the ultimate greasy spoon specialty. It won't fulfill your nutrition requirements, but you'll be too distracted by the fantastic flavor combinations to worry about that. Bon appetit! | Goodbye Raymond Devos... - Photo Aurevoir Raymond Devos... We've lost a great mind... Belgium born Devos was what we could call a "complete" stage artist I guess... He studied mime at Marcel Marceau's school. He opened for Maurice Chevalier, starred in some great movies, specially in Jean-Luc Godard's Seasons in the sun-Le Moribond - Photo I'm following Steve's post about Terry Jacks and Nirvana very own versions of Seasons in the sun, which is originally titled Le Moribond and written by Jacques Brel, a Francophone (Belgium) singer, songwriter, poet, actor, etc, who influenced so many other artists like David Bowie, Leonard Cohen and so on... To this day, there are not much artists that have this amazing theatrical side of them, sarcasim, writing skills, voice and all of this combine with elegance, drama, and to put it blunlty, BALLS... This is such a poignant song, and I remember growing up thinking how heavy it was... My wildest dream would have been to see Jacques performing Don Quixote on stage... He died way too early, leaving us with a nostalgic taste in our mouth... It's amazing the legacy he leaves behind him... (as well as Georges Brassens and others...). I feel we are all children of Jacques Brel... At least there are some footages and movies where we can really appreciate his talent. For instance he was great in My uncle Benjamin. Adieu Jacques, on t'aimait bien... J'accuse, I accuse and the Dreyfus affair - Photo A hundred years ago, in 1906, Alfred Dreyfus was finally exonerated of the charges against him for espionage, and readmitted into the army, after his ordeal on Devil's island's prison where he was sentenced to life... Emile Zola is going to risk his career by writing J'accuse, an open letter to then France's President Felix Faure, accusing the French government of anti-semitism in the Paris daily newspaper L'aurore (the Dawn). Thank you to France Culture and the program Repliques for the enlightment. Note that actor Richard Dreyfus is said to be one of Alfred's descendant...
